Chiara Berrettoni

 

Chiara Berrettoni received her Master Degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2012 from the University of Siena with a thesis carried out within the Institute of Applied Physics of CNR and concerning the development of a novel optical fiber system based on a hybrid LPG-FBG configuration for simultaneous measurement of temperature and refractive index of various solutions. During the thesis she had the opportunity to develop some specific skills regarding the different writing techniques of optical fiber gratings (LPG and FBG) and the design and the manufacture of fiber optic sensor. Since the 2013 she joined the Chemical and Biochemical Optical Sensor Group, first as Research Fellow and at present as PhD student in Electronic Engineering within the European Project NANODEM (NANOphotonic DEvice for multiple therapeutic drug monitoring) for the design and the development of a fluorescent-based optical biochip for the detection of immunosuppressive drugs and suitable for point of care testing (POCT) diagnostics. Her research activity is mainly focused in the area of chemical and biochemical optical sensing.
